What version should I get ? Mac or PC version ?īooting from the Acronis rescue USB made on a PC seems to be the best, most reliable approach to making clones of your macOS drives that will be fully bootable.

Image shows how to select the ISO for downloading and burning to a USB drive. When you make a bootable USB with ATI 2020 for PC on it, you'll be ready for just about any kind of problem that will crop up from time to time on your macOS and Windows installs. If you dual boot with Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 then Acronis is clearly the best choice for you. It also reduces the risk that you may cause problems by entering the wrong commands or choosing the wrong partition in Terminal. If you are a hackintosh beginner and not comfortable with the Terminal approach, Acronis provides a clean and easy to navigate GUI that makes backups and clones extremely simple to make. The above methods may not work for everyone depending on their skill and experience level. With the terminal method you must really know what you are doing and the drive you clone to must be the exact same size as the one you clone from, not ideal. If you are more tech savvy it's possible to use Terminal to clone your complete macOS system drive, even the EFI partition. Makes the whole process quick and seamless. That's one of the main reasons I'm using Acronis instead of other options. Acronis True Image will do all this for you. We hackintosh owners must have the EFI folder copied over to the cloned drive's EFI partition or it simply won't boot. We believe, WD does not impose any limitations either as their business is about storage units and the amount of storage space: the more data is kept on a single unit – the better for them.Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's GuideĬlick to expand. So that is why CCC software will not copy the EFI partition for you.

The App has a protection mechanism that requires a WD drive be attached to the system in order to install or start the application. We do not restrict or control the number of installations.

Not possible in Acronis True Image WD Edition.Īlternatively – you can either create a blank VM and restore the image to a VM’s virtual drive (you may need to apply Acronis Universal Restore to inject hypervisor drivers) or convert backup from TIB to VHD(X) by means of full version of Acronis True Image 2018

separate partitions or files/folders from disk level backup). You can both browse the contents or backup and restore them partially or entirely (e.g. You can generate image in “online” mode but this will require you to install Acronis True Image WD Edition inside the OS. It will be published on WD site as soon as it becomes available. See answers from PM team below:Ģ018 is in the works between Acronis and WD. Hi /u/viennabound, thanks for your questions. Will I be able to install WD Edition on both computers, even though I'm using a single USB drive as backup target? I'd like to use one WD Elements drive for image backups, and I'd like to use this drive on two separate computers. Once I have made image backups, can I start one up as a virtual machine? If so, what other software do I need for that? Once I have made image backups, can I "mount a disk backup as a virtual disk" with WD Edition? If so, how do I go about doing this? Once I have made image backups, can I use WD Edition to "browse the contents of backups and restore them partially or entirely." ?

To make an image backup of a Windows 10 system disk using WD Edition, do I need to shutdown/restart/reboot with special media, or can the image be generated "online", that is, while I continue to use Windows? (ATI 2018 lists online image creation as a feature) 2018 version? Because it looks to me like the "WD Edition" I can download is a 2016 version. Is this available with the latest features, i.e.
